“Christ is our Message….The Bible is Our Text”

2022 Missions Spotlight

Wheeler Mission Spotlight Founded in 1893, Wheeler is the oldest continuously operating ministry of its kind in the state of Indiana.  Wheeler Mission helps the homeless in Indiana.  Wheeler is a non-denominational, Christian, social services organization, which provides critically needed goods and services to the homeless, poor, and needy of central Indiana without regard to race, color, sexual orientation, creed, national origin, or religion.  Wheeler's mission is to provide Christ centered programs and services for the homeless and those in need.  Wheeler's vision is to see every man, woman, and child we serve equipped to be productive citizens who enjoy lasting success in Christ.  Five months out of the year, November 1 through March 31, outreach teams from various agencies perform"street sweeps" to find the homeless and provide them transportation to on of the shelters in the area.  To put this in perspective during non-Winter Contingency months (April 1 - October 31), Wheeler Mission typically shelters an average of 500-600 guests per night throughout all our facilities.  Tut during Winter Contingency, that number jumps to an average of 800-900 guests per night.  Early August, Wheeler Mission officially opened the doors of its new Center for Women & Children, located at 3208 East Michigan Street.  The organization invested $14.8 million to create the state of the art facility, which will be able to serve up to 367 women and children a day.  FRBC does not support Wheeler quarterly, but last year & this year we have given them a love gift as well as collected donations throughout the year.  wheeler has several locations in Indianapolis (downtown) & Bloomington.
